It was 6:30pm last night when it began to rain heavily along with some thunder and lightening.
I think it was about 7pm when it began to calm down and the beautiful light that comes right after a storm
was all around. I waited a little while just to make sure it was over but then I noticed it was getting dark so I headed outside.
I walked around the front of the house like I normally do after a storm to make sure everything was okay.
I then proceeded to walk to the backyard to do the same. It began to lightly rain at that moment as I looked up to look at the roof I was pleasantly surprised to see the rainbow over our backyard. I ran quickly inside and grabbed the widest lens I could to capture it before it disappeared.

As you can see from the photo below it was fading fast. I am just glad I was able to get the shot.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Today we are taking a little detour from the NC Transportation Museum and heading towards Grandfather Mountain in Linville to show you the beautiful autumn colors. It seems that so far this fall each time we go on an adventure it rains and this time was no exception but added to mix was snow, fog, wind and just darn right cold now you would think that would stop all of us from visiting the mountains the weekend of the October 17th fat chance there were tons of us brave souls who venture out to check it out.

One of the things I love when we go on our adventures is to take photos from the car while the hubby is driving he only has one stipulation and that is for me to stay on my side of the car which sometimes can prove difficult when there are neat things to photograph on his side.

Below are a few scenes from the car as we headed towards Grandfather Mountain.

1. Heading out before you hit the mountains

2. The highway that leads you to the mountains you can see the fog from the rain, snow and cold.

3. The rain and fog became more apparent as we climbed the high elevation

4. We need to pass Blowing Rock (a place we love) to get there. I turned around to get this I aimed at the backseat window.

5. One of the main roads heading up

6. From one of the scenic overlook

7. We arrive and as my hubby turned right into Grandfather Mountain I shot the sign

Stay tune for more from Grandfather mountain I have bears, cougars and more scenic views.

Until next week stay well and take time to enjoy the view.

Well it’s hump day and it’s really cloudy and dreary here. We’ve had days and nights filled with thunderstorms and heavy rain. We need the rain but with all that comes the bugs eek and we expect more today.

Anyway, the weather here has reminded me of the photos I have taken just after the fresh rain where everything is still wet and the leaves and flowers are covered with the pretty drops of rain. I love going out and taking photographs like that it has a nice calming peaceful effect on me. So with out further ado I present just a few of my Drops of Rain Photographs.
