Somewhere Over The Rainbow | North Carolina Photographer

It was 6:30pm last night when it began to rain heavily along with some thunder and lightening.
I think it was about 7pm when it began to calm down and the beautiful light that comes right after a storm
was all around. I waited a little while just to make sure it was over but then I noticed it was getting dark so I headed outside.
I walked around the front of the house like I normally do after a storm to make sure everything was okay.
I then proceeded to walk to the backyard to do the same. It began to lightly rain at that moment as I looked up to look at the roof I was pleasantly surprised to see the rainbow over our backyard. I ran quickly inside and grabbed the widest lens I could to capture it before it disappeared.

As you can see from the photo below it was fading fast. I am just glad I was able to get the shot.

For this blog post I wanted to share one of my favorite photos of the week that happens to be of my girl Midnight.
It’s been so hot this summer so we haven’t been able to be outside to enjoy it as we would like so we are making the best of it, by playing games indoors.
I must admit I am having tons of fun with it and I think Midnight is enjoying herself as well.
Below is a photo I captured this week when Midnight was resting in her “safe zone” which happens to be on the stairs.
See we were playing tag and she knows if she runs to the stairs and sits she is safe and she can rest until she ready to play again.
It really is a hoot to see her there then run down and tag us when she is ready to play again.

Creative Macro Photography | North Carolina Photographer

I was trying to come up with something I have not blogged about for this weeks post then it dawned on me that I have yet to share any photography tips.
So for this week I decided that I would post a cool video on creative macro photography with Bryan Peterson. Bryan Peterson is the author of the great book Understanding Exposure: How to Shoot Great Photographs with a Film or Digital Camera. I love that book and keep it on my nightstand and read it often so if you have not read this book I highly recommend it.

Anyway, the video shows a creative way to get a great macro shoot using simple items we may already have so without any further blabber from me here is the video.

I always like to try new things and experiment so I will definitely be trying this out so look out for a post on the result soon.
